The visitor center was recently renovated to bring its facilities up to the 21st century. Watch a 20 minute park film which is narrated by Donald Southerland, which gives you a real insight into the park’s geologic formation. There are a whole load of fascinating artifacts and exhibits on display for children and adults alike so you can walk away not only having seen Death Valley but also knowing Death Valley as well! During winter, the rangers present a wide variety of walks, talks and slide style presentations about the ins and outs of Death Valley. Learn all about the natural and historic resources and feel free to ask any questions that the rangers will be happy to answer or maybe even get treated to a personalised story if you're lucky enough.
Throw yourself back thousands of years as you take a step back into history. The museum is located really nearby the visitor center, which means you won't need to roast your socks off before you get there. Step into the historical building and come across several exhibits which really show what went on in the way of mining way back when. There are several types of ore and a small exhibit of the Harmony Borax mine itself which you can cast your eyes on. Tread your toes outside and be faced with several antique exhibits of mining machinery. A piece which stands out is the oxen shoeing device which was used to physically lift the ox up in the air so the shoes could be put on it. Once you've got your fill of history, fast forward to present day life and get back to Mohave Desert in time for some good old fashioned Vegas nightlife.
