Il programma nel dettaglio

The tour begins at the former tobacco factory, a vast baroque building that is now part of the university. It was here that Bizet’s Carmen worked and beguiled men with her beauty. Visit the historic Murillo Gardens, renowned for their botanic variety and stroll through the lovely, landscaped Montpensier Gardens.

Behold the vast scale of architect Anibal Gonzalez’s Plaza de España, which was also built for the exhibition, and symbolised the links between Spain and the Americas. See the arcades, the fountains, the ponds, the decorative tiles, the picturesque bridges and the tall spires at either end. Such is the plaza’s dramatic appearance that is has featured in major movies, including Lawrence Of Arabia, two Star Wars episodes and The Dictator.

Wander through the verdant Maria Luisa Park, admire the monument to local 19th century poet Gustavo Adolfo Becquer, which is built around a massive swamp cypress, the Fountain of Lions and Mount Gurugu. Continue to Plaza de America to visit the neo-plateresque Archaeological Museum and the neo-Mudejar Museum of Arts and Traditions.
