Food in St Vincent and the Grenadines is hot and spicy. Meat stews and curries are popular and fish and shellfish are part of the diet. Fish is pickled and salted. Vegetables include cassava, sweet potatoes, peppers, tomatoes, onions and breadfruit.

A popular Caribbean dish eaten in St Vincent and the Grenadines is callaloo, a stew made with spinach or dasheen leaves and coconut milk.

Arrowroot is grown in St Vincent and used in recipes to thicken sauces such as custard.

Fruits include bananas, citrus fruits, mangoes, papayas and passion fruit.

Local tea, coffee and fresh fruit juices are available; alcoholic drinks, such as beer and rum, are brewed locally.
