Program details

The neighbourhood of Urca is a jewel to be discovered slowly, with its old houses and rustic shops. The sight of one of the icons of the Marvelous City attracts our attention: Pão de Açúcar (Sugarloaf Mountain).

Head for the Sugarloaf cable car, the first transport of its type to be built in Brazil – and the third in the world! The exciting and panoramic cable car ride to the top of the hill has two parts: the first ride takes you from the Boarding Station up 224 metres to the Urca Hill, a smaller mount that precedes the Sugarloaf. From there, hop onto a second cable car that will whizz you up to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain, the best vantage point of Rio de Janeiro (395 metres). Take out your phone or your camera and immortalize this instant in breath-taking panoramic pics.

After catching your breath, descend into the city you have just contemplated from above and continue the adventure at the legendary Maracana Stadium, setting of some of the greatest events in Brazilian football and also the most traumatic. The Maracana was inaugurated to host the FIFA World Cup of 1950, it originally seated some 200,000 people. The stadium was partly rebuilt in preparation for the 2014 World Cup and will be the host site for the final match; the current seating capacity is set at 78,000 and is the largest in South America. The Sambadrome, a parade of Rio's samba schools is also on our menu.

Finish the tour as you discover downtown Rio where you can admire the famous sights and attractions such as panoramic views of the Municipal Theatre, National Library, Cinelândia, Arcos da Lapa and a visit to the São Sebastião Metropolitan Cathedral to name but a few.
