Program details
Meander through Old Town San Diego's State Historic Park, learn about the Mexican period and the American/Gold Rush period. Taste food and traditional cocktails along the way. Visit Plaza de las Armas: a place where bullfights, horse races, pistol shootouts and many political events once took place. Immerse yourself in the past during this historical culinary tour.
We will step back in time while we wander through State Historic Park, recreating life in 19th century. You will admire ancient adobe homes with their distinctive thick walls and white exteriors originally built by settlers. The guide will tell you stories from the past and will drive your imagination to places far in time. You will sample food and drink at El Fandango and look at Plaza De Las Armas and you will learn about the Mexican period of Old Town as well as the following American resulting in a network of cultures. We will stop at a locals-favourite Mexican restaurant and taste same samples of food and traditional cocktails. We will visit one of the oldest graveyards in the city and hear stories of a past still haunting the Old Town. Yankee Jim and Whaley House are only two of them.
